Motivation Mural

Concept: Motivate’s owner reached out, looking to get some concept designs for a mural she wanted to have done in the front lobby of her gym. She wanted the mural to be on the wall with a pre-existing LED Motivate sign, so all mock mural designs needed to incorporate that. 

Target Audience: The design was created for people who go to the Motivate gym for a workout class.

Role in Project: I created a mock design of a potential mural option for the lobby. 

Skills: After learning more about Motivates’ values and the stipulations Motivates’ owner had for this project, I felt a playful design best fit. I wanted to use lines as a way to show movement and colors to show the welcoming energy that is embodied in Motivates’ values. I created the design itself in Adobe Illustrator and then brought it into Adobe Photoshop to mock it up for the client.

Problems and Solutions: Because I wanted to go for a more playful design, I found it difficult to create something that also looked professional and not childlike. I overcame this by changing the colors I chose to have a higher contrast. When I changed the contrast I found it dramatically changed how the design was preserved. With the color changes, the design looked more professional, while also sticking true to the original stipulations.
