This project is a floor-to-ceiling materialization of bacteria identified through the process of Gram staining. The bacteria represented in this piece is a strain of strep throat (Staphylococcus Aureus). The colors correspond to the Gram-positive and Gram-negative sections of the bacteria: warm-toned yarns represent Gram-negative portions, while cool-toned yarns symbolize Gram-positive sections. ββThe colors and placement of the yarn were both intentional and integral to the overall success of the project.
